Diwali 2024 Puja Muhurt Live: Diwali is the festival of lamps and lights. On this day, every corner of the country is seen shining with the light of lamps. There is a tradition of celebrating the festival of Diwali on the day of Kartik Amavasya. But it is necessary to have Amavasya date in main Kaal Pradosh. This is the reason why confusion arose among people regarding the date of Diwali.
However, after the meeting and consensus of scholars in Kashi, it was decided that this year it would be scriptural to celebrate the festival of Diwali on 31 October 2024 only. Whereas the puja, donation, bath and tarpan etc. related to Amavasya Tithi will be done on Friday, November 1, 2024.
On the day of Diwali, people install the idols of Lakshmi-Ganesh in homes, offices, factories and shops etc. and worship them. On this day, worshiping Lakshmi in the evening has special significance. On 31st October, the day of Diwali, you can worship Goddess Lakshmi from 05:36 pm to 8:51 pm.
Why is Diwali celebrated? What is its story?
According to the legend, due to the curse of sage Durvasa in ancient times, heaven became devoid of Shri (Lakshmi) and demons attacked the heaven. After this the gods had to leave heaven and it was taken over by demons.
Then all the gods reached Lord Brahma and Vishnu and told the whole story. Lord Vishnu advised the gods to churn the ocean. He said that after drinking the pot of nectar that will emerge from the churning of the ocean, all the gods will become immortal and no one will be defeated in the war. But to churn the ocean the help of demons will have to be taken.
After this the gods churned the ocean with the help of demons. The ocean was churned by the serpent Vasuki and Mount Mandar. From the churning of the ocean, not only the nectar pot, but also Goddess Lakshmi re-incarnated. By drinking the nectar emanating from the churning of the ocean, the gods became immortal and with the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, happiness, good fortune and prosperity returned to heaven. Therefore, Diwali is celebrated every year on the day of Kartik Amavasya.
There is also a tradition that Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya on the day of Kartik Amavasya after completing 14 years of exile. In celebration of Lord’s return to Ayodhya, the people of Ayodhya lit lamps and decorated Ayodhya with flowers like a bride. It is believed that that is why lamps are lit on the day of Diwali and houses and streets are decorated with flower garlands.
